Summary of Position

The Director at Large (DAL) is a voting member of the CACO Board. DALs are expected to serve on one or more of the standing committees of the CACO Board (Communications, Diversity and Inclusion, Class Officer Training, Students and Young Alumni, and Finance and Treasury) and are the CACO Board liaison for assigned classes.

Directors at Large oversee 4-5 classes and communicate with class presidents and other officers on various CACO initiatives.

Directors at Large are expected to serve on one of the standing committees of the CACO Board - Communications, Diversity and Inclusion, Class Officer Training, Finance and Treasury, and Students and Young Alumni. In this capacity, they are expected to participate in meetings and review, discuss and provide support for activities or functions.

Prerequisites Undergraduate alumni of Cornell who have served or are serving as a class officer.

Off Campus Location: Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference (CALC) in February. Locations vary. In-person attendance is preferred, but not required.

Other Meeting Details: One Board retreat in Ithaca in the summer, two Board meetings each year via Zoom (fall/spring), and one Board meeting at CALC in February. The Board retreat and CALC meeting are in person, but a Zoom option will be provided. The fall meeting is sometimes held in conjunction with the Trustee Council Annual Meeting (TCAM) and if so, may take place in person with a Zoom option for those who don't attend TCAM. Ad hoc meetings may be scheduled as needed.

Additional Attendance Requirements: Individual committees meet monthly via Zoom.
