Summary of Position

Committee members employ their expertise in publishing, media, advertising and marketing to oversee broadly the magazine's well-being and growth. Editorial policy and story selection is set by the editor. The committee meets fall, winter and spring, typically NYC. There is ongoing phone / email interaction between meetings. Committee members should have an intense interest in helping CAM grow and prosper.

Committee should be able to speak informally and enthusiastically with other Cornellians about how CAM is the only outlet that keeps alumni impartially informed about the University, the students, the alumni and the faculty. Opportunities include at Class, Club and other (sports) events.

Serve on a Committee or Board
This is the core activity of CAM Committee members: Participate in CAM's three in-person meetings yearly.

Committee members should be on the lookout for possible new members (2-4 members needed each year). The chair and vice-chair should assign projects to committee members to prepare for leadership roles in future years.

Requirements

Prerequisites A background in publishing (now or recent past): online, print, advertising, and/or marketing. Some committee members should have background in development (fundraising). We prefer candidates who can attend meetings in person although traveling members can participate by phone or videoconference.

Hiatus Required? A member serves one or two three-year terms. Most move on to other Cornell volunteer work. A ex-member must be off the committee for one year (minimum) before being considered for re-appointment.
