Summary of Position

The Cornell University Council (CUC)Social Media Manager creates, maintains, and monitors the Council’s social media presence on Facebook and Instagraml The Social Media Manager recruits and works with other Council members to promote Council activities, events, opportunities The Social Media Manager posts regularly on Council’s social media accounts, engages with council members within the social media channel(s) and explores new options for maintaining a robust online Council presence to communicate effectively with Council members.

The Social Media Manager will create and manage the Council’s social media accounts. They will create a social media voice, and write and update content to drive engagement.

The Social Media Manager will work collaboratively with other Engagement Committee members as well as other Council Admin board members to align social media strategies and provide periodic reports to the board on social media effectiveness. The Manager will ensure social media postings are updated consistently, working with other Council members to develop content. The Manager will also investigate and pursue new online channels for engagement.

The Social Media Manager is responsible for growing and measuring inbound traffic from Council’s social media channels. The Chair will monitor comments to ensure they comport with university guidelines for appropriate content, and approve membership requests for opt-in groups such as the Council Facebook group. The Manager will use social media analytics to gain insights into the effectiveness of Council’s social media as a tool to build engagement with its members.
